Come Together, Right Now ...

Attention all Jungle Cruise Alumni!!!

In a few short weeks Labor Day Weekend will be upon us, and with it the first (to my knowledge) Jungle Skipper Reunion!!!!!!! For those of you just joining us, the reunion has been moved from Atlanta to Orlando (I suppose that means next year we'll have to have in it Anaheim). Below is the 'Official' reunion information (thanks Skippers Red and Gordo!!!):

Greetings Skippers past and Skippers present,

If you wore the tight Khaki's
And shot blanks, red and black,
Then it's time to step forward
...It's time to look back

I realize that I don't know most of you but we all have something in common. The Jungle Cruise has left its indelible mark on every one of our  pasts. As some of you may have heard, a reunion has been in the works for  some time now. And Skippers....let me tell you...the day is fast  approaching.

Since the Message Boards are still being perfected (thank you again Shawn for all of your hard work), this is really the only means of   communication between all of us. And with only 46 days left until the  blessed event, it is pressing that we get some plans made and some dialog  started. Briefly, here are some of the plans:
1. WHEN: Labor Day Weekend 1999. September 3-6.
2. WHERE: ORLANDO! We briefly discussed having the reunion in a more centralized city such as Atlanta or New Orleans but realized that most everyone still has friends that they know, and would love to see again, in  Orlando. Plus, we get to visit the ole' Jungle.
3. HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS: You're on your own here. We realized that many  people would stay with friends and the logistics would be hell for whoever had to coordinate it. There are just so many people. Besides, if we were all in the same hotel you just know we'd get kicked out.
4. MK PARK ACCESS: Again, right now you're on your own here. We are  gonna try and pull some strings with this but right now there are no  promises. If you got friends that still work for the Mouse (meaning they  got Main Gate Passes) start lining em up now (for Saturday Sept 4th, see  below). For those of us that don't work there any more, we may be payin'!
5. ITINERARY OF EVENTS (Tentative):
Friday evening: Skipper Social (OK, we're drinkin' beer) at Johnny's Outpost located behind the MK Cast parking lot.
Saturday day: Magic Kingdom Rendezvous. Everyone will meet at the Jungle at 3pm (during parade) to ride the Jungle Cruise together.
Saturday evening: Skipper Social (Yeah OK, so we're drinkin' beer again) at the legendary Big Bamboo where we have rented out the back  room for the entire evening.
We also may be having some sort of a picnic on Sunday but those
plans are still very tentative.
6. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW:
* Reply to justred@aol.com AND robert_gordon@icgcom.com  and let us know if you are planning to attend. We have to have a rough estimate on our numbers so that we are prepared if 150 folks show up to the Big Bamboo.
* Book your vacation plans. Do it now. Prices are only going to go
up.
* Contact other JC Alumni and let them know what is going on. Then
tell them to contact us with their RSVP.
* Stay tuned to your email for further information.
* Send us suggestions.

We are very excited about seeing a bunch of our old friends, meeting some
new ones, and putting some faces to the names (or legends) that we have been hearing about in Jungle Folklore for so many years.

Let's go guys. It's time to step up and decide.
Don't miss your bump!

Skippers Forever,
"Gordo"
